Introduction
Tonight we have a really great show. We will start out with a "best-of" review of our past "what is truth" segments, and close with a discussion of what is coming next in the future for Dr. Gear, Dr. Weyrich, Payson Health and Wellness, and this radio show.
We will start by replaying an "enhanced" version of our most-listened-to YouTube podcast from the "what is truth" series that was first broadcast on 09/17/2019, followed by a brief live overview of subsequent "What is Truth" segments.
These segments are dedicated to our good friend, "The Man in Black," Johnny Cash, who in his song "What is Truth" sang, "you better help the voice of youth find what is truth ... [they're] going to be the leaders in a little while."
I chose this "what is truth" theme after witnessing the blatant censorship and cancellation of scientific inquiry and critical thinking by ignorant and/or intolerant media and educational "leaders."
To paraphrase a mainstream media outlet that apparently embraces the cancel culture, "Democracy Dies in Censorship."

What is Truth Topics (Chronological Order)
-
09/17/2019 - The Scientific Method
-
> 11/09/2021 - Correlation or Association does not Prove Causation
This is an important topic, since too often when one event occurs and is followed by another event, demagogues, politicians, and pundits with an ax to grind insist incorrectly that the first event must have caused the second event.
In traditional logic, this is called a logical fallacy (i.e. erroneous thinking) that is given the Latin name post hoc, ergo proper hoc, which in English means after this, therefore because of this.
For example, does the rooster crowing cause the sun to rise?
In other words, after the rooster crowed, therefore because the rooster crowed, the sun rose.
In reality, the rooster senses the impending dawn, and therefore crows.
As I will say many times and in many ways:
- one cannot correctly treat a problem without a correct diagnosis of what caused the problem;
- one cannot correctly treat a disease without a correct diagnosis of what caused the disease;
- one cannot correctly treat an environmental problem without a correct diagnosis of what caused the environmental problem;
- one cannot correctly treat a political problem without a correct diagnosis of what caused the political problem;
- one cannot correctly treat a social problem without a correct diagnosis of what caused the social problem.
In all cases, if the cause of any problem is incorrectly diagnosed due to a post hoc, ergo proper hoc fallacy (erroneous logic), then the proposed solution or treatment may actually be counterproductive and harmful.
