Overview
The rank 'Infratranscendent' gathers entities that are consequences of the first cause of a cosmology, but outside of the physically observable universe.
The contents of this rank vary widely depending on the cosmology of the particular world view. For example:
In the Christian cosmology, God the Father is the first cause, while Jesus his Son,
the Holy Ghost and universe are consequent effects.
This is described in the Nicene Creed
[written by the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325 AD, and refined by the First Council
of Constantinople in 381 AD; it is accepted by many, but not all, Christian denominations]:
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker [the first cause] of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible [the physical universe].
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father
[an effect of the first cause]
before all ages [transcendent] ... through him all things were made
[Jesus is the proximate cause of the physical universe, which therefore has a beginning]
... and his kingdom will have no end [the universe has no end].
I believe in the Holy Spirit ... who proceeds from the Father and the Son
[is an effect of both Father and Son] ...
The relationship between Jesus and creation is further elaborated in the Gospel of John 1:1-3 ESV:
In the beginning was the Word [logos = Jesus], and the Word was
with God, and the Word was God
[best understood as consubstantial with God and a diety along with God], and all things were made through Him
[Jesus is the antecedent of the paragraph], and without Him was not anything made that was made.
