Oxytocic

Definition of Oxytocic:

Ecbolics (Gr. out of + to throw out) and Oxytocics (Gr. quick, + birth) stimulate the muscular fibers of the gravid uterus to contraction, thus causing premature birth or abortion: ergot, cottonroot bark, savin, hydrastis, potassium permanganate, oils of rue, tansy, and pennyroyal [Culbreth1927, pg 45].

Substance that stimulates uterine contractions to induce or assist labor [Sanchez BOTM680].
