Definition of Immunosuppressant:

A drug that reduces the body's natural immunity by suppressing the natural functioning of the immune system [Gale2008]. Note, however, that suppressing one aspect of the immune system tends to stimulate other aspects, as is seen in the TH1 vs TH2 response that is mediated by cytokines. For this reason, Immunomodulator seems to be a better term [ORWJr].
