Establishing a
Clinical Pathway
to treat autoimmune diseases is the first step for optimal results.
A clinical pathway is a series of treatment steps, evaluations, and milestones that guide the treatment
process in order to optimize the sequence of interventions, evaluation of the results of the interventions,
and to ensure corrective action when expectations are not met.
It is important to note at the outset that insurance typically does not cover the testing and treatments described below. In Dr. Weyrich's experience, the number one cause for failure of Dr. Weyrich's treatment program is lack of financial resources to implement the required testing and treatment.
This is a sad commentary on the current state of allopathic-driven heath care; if all you can afford is standard insurance, Medicaid (AHCCCS in AZ), or Medicare, Dr. Weyrich must reluctantly advise you to utilize the allopathic resources that you (or taxpayers) have paid for, and complain to your elected officials that you want control of your own health care via free market approaches like medical savings accounts (socialized medicine will just double down on the problem of drug-industry-driven allopathic policy being administered by centralized-planning bureaucrats).
Dr. Weyrich's Clinical Pathway for Treating Autoimmune Diseases is a work in progress; In it's current form, it includes the following steps or interventions:
- Initial consultation with patient to establish goals and patient history (phone).
- DECISION: Can Dr. Weyrich help patient?
- Obtain relevant medical records to establish patient diagnosis, and document relevant aspects of patient history.
- Initial assessment of case.
- Physical examination of patient (office visit).
- Initial case review with patient (phone).
- Coordination of care with other health care providers (e.g. patient's allopathic doctors).
- Order any additional tests necessary to confirm diagnosis.
- Order any additional tests necessary to establish baseline disease markers (e.g. disease-specific antibody titres and general health markers such as inflammation). This also includes immune system balance markers, including CBC, Vitamin D, TH1/TH2 cytokines, and CD4/CD8 ratio [McCulley2018, pg 202].
- Discuss removing obstacles to cure.
- Initial diet plan (eliminate harmful foods based on disease-specific diet criteria, and general healthy eating criteria).
- Office Visit to discuss diet plan.
- Order Food Allergy Testing (if not previously done).
- Establish Diet plan based on Food Allergy test results (eliminate additional harmful foods, add beneficial foods based on disease-specific diet criteria, and general healthy eating criteria).
- Office Visit to discuss diet plan.
- Office Visit to discuss diet plan progress/problems.
- Order retest of disease markers.
- DECISION: Is patient making expected progress? If not consider referral to other provider, or additional tests/interventions below.
- Additional tests/interventions as appropriate for specific disease and individual case
(priority based on clinical judgement, not order listed below).
- Address spiritual component [prayer is free upon request]
- Address psychological component (HPN or Neurofeedback, mind-body techniques, or referral?)
- Treat the spine (X-ray, referral?)
- Address gut dysbiosis and parasites (stool analysis testing?)
- Heal the gut (permeability testing?)
- LDN
- Supplements (micronutrient testing?)
- Detoxification (heavy metal, pesticide, or other testing?)
- Address oral/dental health (herbal, or referral to biologic dentist?)
- Evaluate metabolic imbalances and genetics (OAT test?, genetic testing?)
- Evaluate hormone imbalances, especially thyroid and adrenal - then sex and pituitary hormones
- Referral to specialists for specific concerns outside Dr. Weyrich's scope of expertise, e.g. ophthalmologist for eye health.
- Exercise plan (at-home or with personal trainer at gym)
- DECISION: Is patient making expected progress? If not consider referral to other provider, or consider another approach in above list.

He also holds a PhD from the University of Tennessee (1982) in Physical Organic Chemistry with a minor in biological sciences (biochemistry and microbiology).
Dr. Weyrich has been taught microbiology and immunology at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine as well as Grand Canyon University and Maricopa Community College District.
Dr. Weyrich offers these nutritional protocols as a complement (adjunct) to other therapies, as opposed to an alternative to (replacement for) other therapies.
