Overview

Ketoacidosis is a life-threatening disorder that is associated with un-treated type-I Diabetes, and is characterized by high levels of ketones (> 10mmol/L) and acidic compounds in the blood [Bosworth2018, pg 11]

This is different from the controlled nutritional ketosis created by the ketogenic diet, in which blood ketone levels are in the range 0.5 to 3.0mmol/L [Bosworth2018, pg 11]
